2012 Operating Schedule

For

Galloping Goose No. 5

This is a tentative schedule as of November 24, 2011

Please check this page from time-to-time for updates

·       Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad –

We are planning two trips this year to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

The 4th of July – We are planning to operate during the week of the 4th  of July – July 3rd through the 7th. Hopefully one of the daily trips will include a dinner run into Osier with a moonlight return to Cumbres Pass.

September Fall Colors event from September 27th through the 30th. Since there is a full moon that weekend also we are planning a dinner at Osier with a moonlight run to Cumbres.

·       Colorado Railroad Museum – Golden, Colorado

“GooseFest” at the CRRM is now scheduled for June 16th. The plan calls for having all 6 surviving RGS Galloping Geese and the reproduction of “Motor No.1” at the museum together! This would be a very special reunion event since all the Geese have not been together since the RGS was abandoned in 1952!

·       Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

The D&S has not set their summer schedule yet. We are, however, planning on attending Railfest there in mid to late August.

·       Dolores local operations

Dolores, Colorado celebrates “Escalante Days” the second weekend of August each year. On Saturday the Galloping Goose is operated on the 100 yards of track in front of the RGS Depot and Town Hall. These rides are free.

The only other time the Goose may operate locally is for a special planned tours or mechanical tests. Please stop by for a visit to the RGS Museum where the Goose is parked and maybe you will be lucky enough to see and hear it in action.

·         Please note that the possible “Snow Goose” trip on the Durango & Silverton in February has been cancelled. Maybe next year (2013)

A ride on the Galloping Goose is unique. Unlike riding on a regular train on these railroads, our passengers are able to get off when we stop at various locations along the way for “photo run-bys” or just to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
